the owner of an abandoned old gold mine cut a zig-zag road up the mountain on the Centennial Ridge behind our house.  The old mine is private land inside the National forest.   His plan was to develop the zig-zag but Albany County shut him down, not sure of all the details.   So the zig-zag road is a bit of a scar on the ridge, but it sure is nice to ski up.   Apollo likes the trek.
